Oladipo Ayomide, popularly known as Haywise_official is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, born and raised in Ibadan Oyo state. In this interview, he talks about his music and more.

Tell us about yourself.
I will describe myself as a goal-getter, ambitious, with thirst for knowledge. I got my degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Food science and Engineering. I’m the first child of 3, to average Nigerian parents.

How will you describe your personality and music?
I will say my personality varies depending on my present environment but some attributes are peculiar to me which I am aware of. I am calm, smart, cheerful and friendly. These attributes influence the music that I make. My music is about my life, state of mind and environment which I believe a lot of people can relate with. So I believe I have a great personality that resonates with my music

What’s the story behind Ballin?
Ballin’ is a song about lifestyle, a luxurious and flamboyant one. A lifestyle that is prevalent with the youth and elites. Ballin’ is my lifestyle and I made it a song. I met Dremo through a friend and Verbb (he mixed and mastered the song )got me connected with Napji, producer under the DMW label. I also met other members of the label which is something I will always be proud of, even got noticed by Davido.

Balling had Dremo on it, what’s your relationship with him like?
Before the recording, we (team) lodged at an apartment with Verbb, Napji, Dremo came around. Ballin’ was not the original idea for the collaboration but when Napji played the beat, it was so thrilling that we had to make Ballin’. My relationship with Dremo is cordial, we are cool. I met him through a mutual friend, we hung out and I pitched the idea of collaboration with him, he agreed and we fixed a date for the recording.

When should we expect a project or a new song from you?
I’m currently working on a project, an EP. There’s no stipulated time of release because it is still underway, building it bit by bit. All I can say is that it is going to be big, exceptional when it drops.

What’s your Life’s philosophy?
I have so many principles and precepts I live by, I will mention a few. Whatever you set your mind to is achievable; you only live once so try to make the best out of it. Do good, share positive vibes; help people because we all need each other.

What makes your different from everyone & how do you make music?
Humans are alike than we think though with little distinctions. I won’t say I’m different; I’m just me, Haywise. Like I said earlier, music making is all about my environment, mood and state of mind. I put my feelings into melody.

What do you think about the globalization of Afro-beats?
Afro-beats is a great sound, thrilling genre so it should be everywhere. Afro-beat is the present and the future.

What do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a great artist, a winner and a philanthropist; someone that created a legacy.

What are your last words to your fans?
Everything is achievable; there are no limits to what you can do.
