Nollywood actress Favour Dike has opened up about her passion for acting and how she got into the industry in a recent interview. Dike, who hails from Delta State, Nigeria, shared her journey to stardom, as well as her thoughts on the industry, her favorite roles, and her career goals.

Growing up, Dike said she was inspired by art and had a passion for acting. She got her start in the industry through a friend in Lagos, where she began her acting career as a child. However, when her family moved to Delta State after her father’s retirement, she discovered that Nollywood had a base in Asaba, which made it easier for her to pursue her career.

When asked about her favorite roles, Dike revealed that she enjoys playing the roles of an antagonizing wife, sister, and friend, as well as romantic and love roles. She also loves roles that display African culture and heritage. Dike said she feels fulfilled playing these roles because they appeal to her in an emotional way.

Dike also shared her thoughts on the representation of Nigerian culture in Nollywood movies. She said that she feels great about cultural roles that portray Nigerian culture because it helps to preserve and promote it to future generations. She also expressed her desire to see foreign film industries like Hollywood and Bollywood come to Nigeria for collaborative performances.

To prepare for her roles, Dike said that she reads and studies her scripts thoroughly to understand the artistic interpretation of her role in the story. She also does exercises such as gymnastics, meditation, and aerobics, as well as rehearsals at home. Dike uses method acting and mind focusing techniques to bring a character to life.

When working with directors and fellow actors on set, Dike emphasized the importance of listening to the director’s vision and collaborating with other actors to create a cohesive and authentic performance.

Dike believes that a great movie is one that tells a compelling story and uses all the tools of filmmaking, including acting, directing, writing, cinematography, and overall production value. As for her career goals, Dike said that she pays attention to the entire story when choosing a script, not just the role. She also enrolls in various professional courses to continue learning and growing in her craft.

Looking to the future of the Nigerian film industry, Dike said that she sees it growing bigger in the years to come. She encourages aspiring actors to work hard and study more, and to not focus on making money. Finally, she advises those looking to make a career in acting to also consider producing, as she has done with her own company, Black Queens Visuals.
