Superstar Yb treads new grounds with Afro King EP
Abimbola Popoola, popularly know as Superstar Yb is a Nigerian-Irish singer, songwriter, and music producer who is making waves throughout the world, thanks to the release of his latest “Afro King EP project.
The EP project received over a million streams on audiomack on the first day of release, charted in 24 countries globally, including Nigeria and the United States.
It also debuted at number one on the Irish iTunes worldwide chart.
The Afro King EP peaked at number one on Ireland’s audiomack album chart, and the EP’s lead track, ‘Don’t Go’ trended on Top 20 shazam charts in multiple cities across the United States.
In a chat with Guardian, Superstar Yb revealed why the music videos for the EP’s songs were shot in Dublin, stating that his goal is to promote the Irish multicultural society and exhibit the beauty of Ireland and Africa in an exciting international cultural blend.
He described Nigeria and Ireland as “wonderful” countries with “a lot of talent in the creative scene” and he expressed gratitude for being a dual citizen of both.
He went on to say that both the public and private sectors must work hard to ensure that the world is aware of the work being done on the Irish talent scene, that it’s wonderful to see people of all races and nationalities come together in peace, love, and harmony to showcase their outstanding music, dancing and artistic abilities.
“We need to keep encouraging and pushing it forward”, he said.
Superstar YB’s “Afro King EP is a refreshing blend of Afrobeat, Dancehall, and Amapiano music.
Among his high tempo and Afrobeat vibe, this project’s unique blend of genres and styles matches the singer’s trademark vocals.
All of the songs on the EP were written, composed, and co-produced by Superstar Yb. He’s also the executive producer on the project.
