The Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa has ruled that former President Goodluck Jonathan is eligible to contest the 2023 presidential election.

The Judge, Justice Isa Hamma Dashen, gave the judgement on Friday.

He also held that Jonathan’s right to vie for the office of president again cannot be stopped by any retroactive law.

Jonathan is yet to openly declare his intention to run for Nigeria president after losing a reelection bid to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

The former president is one many in whose names presidential nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was purchased.

Jonathan’s media aide said the former president was not aware of the form. Jonathan has neither confirm or refute claims of his membership of the APC.
