There was heavy security Monday morning at the Federal High Court, Abuja, where the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, will resume.

Kanu was brought into the court premises in a convoy at about 8 am and will appear before Justice Binta Nyako.

Kanu was recently rearrested in an undisclosed country and returned to Nigeria to resume his trial. His family and lawyers, however, claimed he was arrested in Kenya.

Kanu jumped trial in September 2017 and was speaking from undisclosed locations until his rearrest in June.

However, most journalists are barred from entering the courtroom as a heavy security presence is witnessed in and around the court to forestall any form of protest.
