NCC threatens to seal satellite firm over unauthorised channels

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) yesterday threatened to suspend operations of Hashtronics Satellite Limited failure to produce evidence of authorisation for broadcasting and re-broadcasting of satellite channels to subscribers.

Director of Enforcement, NCC, Mr. Augustine Alewo Amodu, who issued the threat during an unscheduled inspection on Hashtronics Satellite office in Kano following series of petitions against the firm.

Amodu told journalists that the team discovered broadcasting of programmes through foreign decoders, which automatically enabled access to transmit authorised channels to their subscribers.
