For many living and working within the Apapa corridors, connecting Apapa and its environs has become a lot easier in the past one week. This is because the indiscriminate parking of articulated vehicles on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway which usually sometimes lead to permanent obstruction of traffic has been halted.

Sola was trekking to Oshodi from Toyota Bus Stop, but midway into her journey she almost fell into the drainage because one of the manholes along the walkway on that corridor of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway was missing.

Despite the ban on the activities of commercial motorcyclists on some routes in Lagos, some riders have remained adamant, plying and conveying passengers along the prohibited corridor in contravention of the law.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said his government won’t relent in its continuous empowerment of women and developing their capacity.  

Given the mass of people commuting daily from one part of the city to another and considering its megacity status, Lagos is undoubtedly overdue for an efficient intermodal transport system. In the last two administrations, there have been attempts to make intermodal transportation work.

Motorists, pedestrians, traders and other road users along the axis are worried that the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, may have completely forgotten that section of the state despite his pre-election promises.

No doubt, roads are very important in the affairs of mankind. They connect people to their friends, community, work, and play. Roads allow people to discover local hidden gems within a few-mile radius and explore exciting new destinations thousands of miles away.

The ban on the usage of styrofoam and single use plastic by government of Lagos, no doubt, has sent a shocking wave across the state, especially as many have come to accept them as the cheapest means of packaging food despite the environmental nuisance they constitute.

Gradually, the patience and expectations of road users plying the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway are turning to anger and frustration, as there seems to be no solution yet in sight to the untold hardship faced by motorists and citizens daily. 

On July 23, 2023, the 7.7 kilometers long Olodo Bridge, which linked the 35.53 km Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road at Egbeda Council in Ibadan caved in as a result of the downpour and the consequent flood that also swept many structures within that vicinity away.

Across many major roads and streets of Lagos are streetlight poles that do not illuminate roads and streets at night. This is a huge departure from what it used to be between 2015 and 2019, when the LightUp Project of the state government was launched.
