ANEEJ launches cassava processing mill in Oghara community

The Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) has launched a cassava processing mill for the people of Otefe community, Oghara, Ethiope West Local Council, Delta State, under its Economic Empowerment and Livelihood Support project, supported by the Switzerland Embassy in Nigeria and Bread for the World, Germany.

Speaking at the launch, ANEEJ Executive Director, Rev. David Ugolor, who introduced the project and its objectives, solicited the support of residents for the project to succeed and achieve maximum impact as intended.

Ugolor said the project aimed to build the capacity of Otefe-Oghara community members to engage in sustainable and environmentally friendly income-generating activities, while addressing the high poverty levels and environmental challenges exacerbated by insecurity, harsh economic policies, climate change and pollution.

He noted that the cassava processing factory would create jobs for the people of Otefe and provide a market for local farmers.

“This initiative will holistically strengthen economic resilience, improve livelihoods, and foster environmental sustainability for Otefe-Oghara community members,” Ugolor said.
