Chima Amadi donates ₦20 million to support FUTO students

Dr Chima Matthew Amadi has made a remarkable philanthropic gesture by donating ₦20 million to cover the school fees of 100 students at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

The announcement, made during a Sunday service at the Anglican Chapel of Light on campus, caught students and university officials by surprise, sparking an outpouring of emotion. Thunderous applause and tears of joy filled the chapel as the students, many visibly moved, expressed their gratitude for the life-changing support.

The donation is set to ease the financial burden of the benefitting students while inspiring renewed hope and motivation among the wider student community.

In appreciation of his generosity, the Venerable of the chapel, Ven Kelechi Okere, alongside his wife, presented Dr Amadi with an award naming him an Ambassador of the church. The honour recognises his longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes and investment in the next generation of leaders.

Earlier in his address, Dr Amadi shared his personal journey, reflecting on his days as a student of modest means at the University of Ibadan. He underscored the values of hard work, integrity, and a steadfast fear of God as critical elements of success. His message resonated deeply with the congregation, offering a powerful reminder that personal background need not limit one’s aspirations.

Beyond the financial relief, Dr Amadi’s gesture stands as a profound source of inspiration, encouraging students to strive for excellence despite obstacles. His actions highlight that true success is measured not only by personal achievements but also by the positive impact one makes on others.

The event also highlighted Dr Amadi’s broader philanthropic efforts through The Mazi Organization (TMO). He was accompanied at the service by senior members of the group, including TMO Director-General Henry Onwukwe, Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu, Hon Chinwe Obinna, Cajetan Duke, Uche Nwosu, Hon Emma Buka, Mr Chijioke Nwordu, and Abba Chimaroke.

As the beneficiaries continue their academic pursuits, they carry not only financial support but also the enduring inspiration embodied in Dr Amadi’s generous act.
