Vice-Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Edoba Omoregie (SAN), has been commended for his leadership style and commitment to repositioning the ivory tower.
A professor in the department of Sociology and Anthropology, Ochuko Iduemre, while appraising the vice-chancellor’s performance, said support from all stakeholders would also ensure the smooth running of the administration, particularly in delivering academic excellence.
According to him, visionary administrators are needed to drive transformation across the country’s tertiary education landscape.
He noted that in the short time Omoregie assumed office as vice chancellor, the narrative had changed for good.
Iduemre, who specialises in industrial sociology and labour-related matters, said the vice chancellor had displayed glaring competence, especially in the areas of staff development, infrastructural push, speedy release of results by Senate, students’ welfare, sanitation and general peace and tranquillity within the university community.
“In the current vice chancellor, I see a determined administrator, who is focused on his interventions. One of the central points of his agenda is staff-cum-students’ welfare, academic creativity and innovation. We are seeing a commitment to general growth through frank and down-to-earth applications of policies,” Iduemre added.
