The United Pastors Initiative for Good Governance (UPIG) has pleaded with the Federal Government to resolve the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The pastors also vowed that it would mobilise its members across the country to vote out aspirants who see politics as business rather than focusing on solving Nigeria’s social problems and deliver good governance.

The president of the group, James Muya, who spoke in Abuja, said they have informed their executives across the country to carry out their intentions.

Muya said: “The insecurity in the country is growing every passing day, the economic situation is not getting better and ASUU strike is worsening, yet political activities are growing stronger and louder.”

The group called on the Federal Government to tackle security problems, focus on economic matters and resolve ASUU strike.

It also tasked the Federal Government to arrest and prosecute killers of Deborah Samuel, the 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto who was killed over alleged blasphemy of Prophet Mohammed.
