Group donates books to Gbagada school
Rotaract club of Gbagada, District 9110, has donated books to Ifako Comprehensive Senior High School, Gbagada.
Speaking at the presentation, President of the club, Olumide Omodehin, said in fulfillment of his promise when he visited the school, the club was back to donate more books relevant to the students’ learning.
He explained that the books are for science, commercial and art classes, to enrich their knowledge in chosen subjects.
He assured that the club has adopted the school for more impactful projects. Omodehin said they would not relent in trying to complement government’s efforts in basic education and literacy, which is one of the cardinal focus of Rotary.
On how he got the books, the president said during his investiture recently, he sourced for funds when he launched projects he would execute for the year.
the gesture, Principal of the school, Mr. Abayomi Ogunkorode, described the intervention as timely, particularly at a time Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is championing a programme, “Read a book”, to promote reading culture and literacy.
Ogunkorode promised to encourage the students to make good use of the books. The Baale of Araromi, Sawmill, Gbagada, High Chief, Oriola Onalaja, appreciated the gesture and encouraged youths to emulate members of the club by joining them to make impactful contribution to the society.
