The Vice Chancellor of Kola Daisi University Ibadan (KDU-I), Professor Kolawole Timothy Jaiyeoba, recently disclosed that school fees of the soon-to-be opened college would be affordable to all, regardless of their social status.

While condemning the practice among some Nigerian universities, which charge exorbitantly, Jaiyeoba disapproves of institutions with fees that are out of reach of ordinary Nigerians. He promised that his newly established university would ensure that students pay affordable fees in all departments.

“A lot of professors send their children to private schools, but they attended public schools in their own time. How many people in these universities send their wards to public schools? This can’t help Nigeria,” he said.

In his view, expensive private universities in the country are being run by people, whose primary objective is to accumulate wealth, as quality education need not be expensive.

Professor Jaiyeoba, who expressed his feelings recently, while conducting journalists round the university in preparation for takeoff of academic activities for the 2017/2018 session, explained that the vision of the founder, Chief Kola Daisi, would not allow its management to fix tuition beyond what will be affordable.
