
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq has officially inaugurated the Osi Campus of the state university, delivering on his administration’s promise to complete all abandoned projects. The event, held amidst cheers from community leaders and stakeholders, signifies a significant stride in the state’s drive for inclusive development and expanded access to education.
The Governor described the inauguration as more than just a ceremonial event, calling it a lesson in history and a testament to his administration’s commitment to progress. “This is not merely a project commissioning but a declaration of our resolve to ensure no project is abandoned in Kwara,” he said. “Today, we witness the completion of the Osi and Ilesha Baruba Campuses, proving that Kwara will never become a graveyard of unfulfilled promises.”

He highlighted the journey’s challenges, including inflation and other economic constraints, but praised strategic planning and prudent resource management for ensuring the project’s success. “This campus is a beacon of our administration’s commitment to sustainable development, academic excellence, and economic empowerment,” he added.
The KWASU Osi Campus, part of Kwara State University (KWASU), features state-of-the-art facilities, including lecture halls, laboratories, and studios, designed to foster innovation and excellence. Governor AbdulRazaq urged the community and university leadership to safeguard the campus and ensure it becomes a hub for producing world-class professionals.
The Governor emphasised that the two newly completed campuses will spur economic growth, enhance human capital development, and provide new opportunities for the youth. “These campuses are not just buildings but symbols of hope and inclusion, reflecting our collective resolve to build a better future,” he said.

Dignitaries present at the event included top government officials, academics, traditional rulers, and community leaders. Among them were KWASU Chancellor Dr Johnson Bamidele Adewumi, Pro-Chancellor Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, and Vice-Chancellor Sheikh Professor Luqman Jimoh.
Professor Jimoh lauded the Governor’s unwavering commitment to education and revealed that the KWASU Osi Campus would host the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, offering a range of programmes approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). “This campus is a milestone in expanding the academic and research capabilities of our university,” he said.
Dr Mary Arinde, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, commended the Governor’s vision, describing the campuses as transformative projects that will empower youth and stimulate regional development.

The Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu Adasofegbe, praised Governor AbdulRazaq as a leader who honours his promises. “Your Excellency, you have shown magnanimity and progressive leadership by delivering projects that impact lives positively,” he said, listing other achievements in Osi, including road construction, provision of transformers, and renovation of schools.
