NCUK, others partner to provide new medical pathway programme for Nigerian students

DoctorsTwo leading international study centres, Oxbridge Tutorial College, Lagos and Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC), Ireland, have joined forces with the Northern Consortium of UK Universities (NCUK) to provide a brand new medical pathway programme in a unique three-country educational partnership involving the United Kingdom (UK), Nigeria and Ireland.

Starting next month, it will be the first medical pathway programme of its kind between Nigeria and Ireland, leading to medical universities in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

The programme will be launched on Tuesday September 22nd, and will be attended by the Irish Ambassador for Nigeria, Sean Hoy, along with representatives from NCUK, DIFC and Oxbridge College among others – further details on the launch will be released in due course.

NCUK, which was founded in 1987 is a university consortium that delivers pathway programmes, specifically designed for international students. Oxbridge Tutorial College, Nigeria’s first and leading sixth form college and Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC), Ireland’s largest university foundation college are delighted to announce that they have both signed a memorandum of understanding to deliver in partnership with NCUK this unique programme.

The Oxbridge – DIFC programme has been designed as a route for students who want to pursue a medical career via an overseas university education.

Students will start their international foundation year by completing Semester 1 at Oxbridge College’s campus in Ikeja, Lagos, before transferring to Ireland to complete Semesters 2 and 3 at DIFC in Dublin.

Following successful completion of the foundation programme, students can then start their medical degree programme at one of DIFC medical partner universities, which include Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) in Dublin, St. George’s University in London and UCLAN in Central Lancashire, among others.
