NIPOGA kicks off in Kwara poly

Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, has formally launched the 20th edition of Nigerian Polytechnics’ Games (NIPOGA) in the state. The competition, which is being hosted by the Kwara State polytechnic, has 51 polytechnics as participants.

They will participate in games like volleyball table tennis, scrabble, hockey, athletics, handball, tennis basketball, chess, badminton, taekwondo and football. The games are going to take at least 11-thrilling days.

Alabi, while declaring the event opened said the games would play a significant role and boost the Federal Government’s efforts and investment in the youths.He restated the state government’s pro-activeness in bringing change to the sports sector through active participation in sporting activities.
Besides, he enjoined all participating institutions, athletes and officials to display a high level of discipline and tolerance during and after the games as he assured them of a peaceful stay in the state of harmony.
 
The rector of the host institution, Dr. Abdul Mohammad, implored the athletes to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship, especially at difficult situations.Mohammad noted that the host institution has excelled in several fields of endeavour, especially in the areas of sports and entrepreneurship and stand out as an institution to beat in the comity of institutions.
