The management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has placed embargo on signing-off activities for Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) students.

The management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has placed embargo on signing-off activities for Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) students. The information was communicated to the students through an internal memo, which came from the office of the deputy registrar, student’s affairs, Mrs. Abosede Ayoade.

The statement read in part, “The management has observed with dismay the attitude of some finalists in the act of signing-off after their completion of examinations. Students are reminded that this signing-off is not in the students’ handbook, which is the rule guiding student’s activities and conducts. Students are strictly warned to desist from signing-off activities and any student caught henceforth on such will be sanctioned.”

Reacting to the development, a student of the school who wished to remain anonymous lamented that the management had not addressed the core issues affecting the students particularly, the terrible state of the access road to the school, which is hindering free movements to and fro the school.

“The management has done nothing to rehabilitate the roads that lead to the campus, which is more important than the dissolution of signing-off activities. It is a misplaced priority.”

Another student, who also pleaded anonymity, said the decision was made to maintain orderliness in school. “The management in a bid to avoid casualties, and to ensure protection of students on campus have warned us to desist from signing-off activities and that any student caught will be sanctioned.”
