Proposed Army university to be a specialised solution centre, says Tukur Buratai

Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai has disclosed that the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies (NAITES), Biu; will transform to a unique and specialized solution university for the military in the north and the nation at large.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai has disclosed that the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies (NAITES), Biu; will transform to a unique and specialized solution university for the military in the north and the nation at large.
  
Buratai who disclosed this while presenting the certificate of occupancy of the Nigerian Army University (NAU) site to Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state, said the institution would assist in proffering solutions not only in the military strategy for tactics and operational activities, but in science and technology.

The army chief said, “We have taken steps to actualise this varsity project. We have already gotten the military allocation for this year’s national budget; which is one of the requirements of establishing the university.”

 
Speaking on the challenges confronting the military, Buratai said a lot still needed to be done to keep pace with the global trends. “The military and the world over always get the best from such institutions; where they would be able to find solutions to specific challenges.”

Buratai however clarified that the proposed institution would not only be for the military but open to the general public.“This proposed Army University, sited in Biu town of Borno state, is equally a solution centre for national development and requirements; where solutions from different fields of human endeavor would be allowed for consideration,” he said.He added that the institution would be opened to researchers to find solutions to the needs of the nation and humanity.
