PZ Cussons boosts Chemistry competition with N3m, gift items

Organisers of the yearly PZ Cusson Carex Chemistry Competition (PZCCC), have announced that entries are open for the 2015 edition of the chemistry challenge just as they have informed that cash prizes and gifts items worth over N3m have been earmarked for the project, which is targeted at promoting the study of Chemistry among secondary school students.

PZOrganisers of the yearly PZ Cusson Carex Chemistry Competition (PZCCC), have announced that entries are open for the 2015 edition of the chemistry challenge just as they have informed that cash prizes and gifts items worth over N3m have been earmarked for the project, which is targeted at promoting the study of Chemistry among secondary school students.

The competition, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of PZ Cussons Foundation, is open to senior secondary school three students of public and private schools in Lagos State.

Speaking at the formal launch of the third edition of the competition Tuesday, Carex Brand Manager, Oluwaseun Ayeni, said the ultimate winner of the three-stage competition would, apart from getting a laptop, trophy and gold medal, go home with N900, 000 cash for self; his/her chemistry teacher and the school.

The first runner-up, he said, will be entitled to a cumulative cash prize of N660, 000 for self, the chemistry teacher and the school, in addition to a laptop and silver medal.

The other two finalists, he added, would win combined cash prizes of N920, 000 for themselves, their chemistry teachers and their schools, including a laptop each and medals; while the fifth to 10th finalists will each win N50, 000 and a carton of Carex products.

General Manager of Redwood Consulting, Mrs Modupe Badiru said the preliminary stage of the competition would hold in 10 centres across Lagos State, with only two students per school taking part. She advised school authorities to therefore, endorse their best chemistry students for the exercise.
Candidates were advised to provide their contact phone numbers and email addresses through which their examination centres would be communicated.

She informed interested contestants to either download free entry forms from the dedicated website, pick the forms up from the Lagos State Ministry of Education, or the six educational district offices across the state.

The competition at inception has received the endorsements and support of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, the Lagos State Government and the National Association of Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria.
