RECTEM matriculates 212, warns against indiscipline

The Rector, Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), Dr Stella Mofunanya, has warned the newly admitted students of the institution against vices, saying the school would not hesitate to kick them out if found wanting.

Mofunanya, delivering her speech during the matriculation ceremony for 212 students for the 2024/2025 academic session, reminded them that there is no shortcut to success.

She noted that the successful completion of their programmes would depend on regular attendance, seriousness with continuous assessment, and shunning vices, adding that attendance and participation at the school’s Chapel, should not be compromised.

She also emphasised that the college is governed by rules, which must be strictly adhered to, with zero tolerance for cultism, hooliganism, corruption, examination malpractice and other forms of social menace.

The rector also restated the school’s commitment to holistic learning, which combines academic excellence with spiritual growth and development. She said: “We recognise that education is not just about acquiring knowledge and skills, but also entails sound character and integrity. We are committed to developing well-rounded individuals equipped to make a positive impact in their communities.”

On his part, the Executive Secretary, NBTE, Prof. Idris Bugaje, said the students are equipped with knowledge that will make them self-reliant and employers of labour.

Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, assured the new students that their admission went through due process that RECTEM is known for. Oloyede, who disclosed that the agency has automated its services, commended RECTEM for recently hosting over 50 admission officers for training.
