Students’ loan: MAU begins refund of institutional fees to NELFUND beneficiaries

The Modibbo Adama University Yola has said it has commenced refunding institutional fees to students who had already received the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) students loan disbursements.

This is even as it insisted that it never confirmed deduction of students loan.

Information Officer of the institution, Muhammad Nur Isma’il, stated this in a statement made available to The Guardian.

The statement revealed that around 300 students were impacted, stressing that refund delays occurred due to inconsistencies in account details, necessitating physical verification.

“The delay from both batches (Batch A and B) were about 300 students, and refund is ongoing.

“It was delayed due to some inconsistencies noted with account details on the process, which resulted in calling for physical verification”.

Isma’il also addressed concerns that graduated students might not be able to return to school for physical verification due to time constraints.

“For those that have graduated, they can send in their details with a statement of result indicating they have actually graduated for their refund to be processed,” the statement added.
