UK body rates Lagos Preparatory School high

Lagos Preparatory School (LSP), Ikoyi has been handed excellent scores by Independent School’s Inspectorate, the most prestigious, rigorous United Kingdom (UK) inspection team for inspecting British schools located overseas.

LSP prides itself as a school committed to maintaining as high a standard as can be expected from any independent school in the UK, which is why the school requests inspections by ISI, the same UK body charged with assessing the quality of education at leading UK independent preparatory and secondary schools.

“We are absolutely delighted to have achieved 100 per cent excellent and good rating in every single aspect of school life, the top two classifications awards by ISI,” the headmaster of the school, John Samuel said after the recent visit by the body.

According to the main findings of the report, “Pupil achievement successfully meets the school’s aims to achieve high academic standards. Pupils make good progress in their learning because of good teaching, their extremely positive attitude to learning and a broad curriculum that effectively meets their needs and captures their imagination.”

The UK body noted that the outstanding progress of pupils can be seen in even the youngest children in the school, “Children in EYFS make excellent progress in their learning and development and by the end of the reception year, the majority demonstrate skills exceeding the expected levels in all areas of learning.”

They noted that, “Pupils display excellent attitude to their work and behaviour is exemplary, the personal development of pupils throughout the school is excellent. Pupils are confident and articulate… The quality of pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent throughout the school.”

The team added that the, “The extra-curricular programme is excellent,” and “expectations are high for all children and there is great emphasis on academic achievement. Notable improvement to the quality of academic achievements, of teaching and of leadership and management since the previous inspection are symptomatic of excellent governance.”

Member of the LPS Governing Board, Mrs. Habiba Balogun, congratulated all involved in the school-students, parents and governors.
