Undergraduates debate at national re-construction competition

The goal of the preliminaries and finals elevated the status and practice of social discourse in the country and provided innovative solutions to salient global issues.

Student of the University of Ibadan (UI) debated the need for national reconstruction at the 2019 SuperBowl edition of the oratory competition. The theme of this year’s edition, “The Re-construction of the Nigerian nation; and UI @ 70: Sustaining the legacy, raising the bar”, was designed to address issues bordering on the country’s polity which has been described as lacking positive engagement and inspiring public debates.

The goal of the preliminaries and finals elevated the status and practice of social discourse in the country and provided innovative solutions to salient global issues.

According to the organisers, being the biggest oratory competition in the institution, SuperBowl finds the best and the brightest of Nigeria’s young thinkers, gives them topical and socially relevant issues; and then provides them with a stage, upon which to share the results of their brainstorming and research.
