UNILAG alumni train undergraduates on writing business plan

Amidst high unemployment rate in the country, old students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) have organised a two-day programme designed to train undergraduates on how to develop and write business plan.

Amidst high unemployment rate in the country, old students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) have organised a two-day programme designed to train undergraduates on how to develop and write a business plan.

The programme held at Faculty of Social Sciences was put together by the alumni of the school in partnership with EduBridge Academy with the sole aim of exposing students to the ideologies and techniques of writing a business plan.

Tagged, “Beyond a Degree 6.0,” the convener and Business Improvement Manager, DAI, Esther Adegunle, said the concept behind the initiative is to empower students and give them tips that would be meaningful to them upon graduation.

Recalling the challenges she experienced several years ago after graduation and how she navigated, Adegunle maintained that students must be given useful information that would help them survive independently.

Noting that her first business during her school days was selling of shirts in the hostel, she listed components of a business plan to include environmental, industrial and market analysis; competitors, operational, financial and executive analysis.

business plan is important because “it is resourceful for new partners and management. It is also required for accessing grants and finances. It serves as a great thinking and strategy process tool and investors always ask for business plans.”

One of the participants, Abudu Sufian, said the session gives provides an insight into what graduates should expect as they leave school and also how to seamlessly dive into the real world and land safely.”
