UNN alumni hold 56th anniversary, Anwukah, 21 others get awards

Ekweremmadu, Ugwuanyi, others to grace occasion
The University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA), Owerri Branch, will on Saturday, October 29, hold its 56th anniversary, alongside an award ceremony.
At the event slated for the Imo Trade and Investment Centre (former Ahiajoku Convention Centre), Owerri, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwuka, would be conferred with the friend of the association award, while chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Chief Eze Duruiheoma, would be bestowed with Lion Beacon of Light award.

Briefing newsmen ahead of the event, president of the branch, Dr. Pat Ekennia, said the Founders’ Day lecture, with the title, “Survival of the Nigerian Economy in the Face of Dwindling oil Resources,” would be delivered by Prof. Moses Iwuala.

State governor, Rochas Okorocha, and his Enugu State counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, would host the occasion.According to her, the event would witness the presentation of an Outside Broadcast (OB) van, worth millions of naira to the Mass Communication Department of the UNN, adding that others to be conferred with different awards include the rector of the Imo State Polytechnic, Rev. Fr. Wence Madu; the Provost, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Dr. Blessing Ijioma; wife of Imo State governor, Nkechi Okorocha, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Dr. Celestina Njoku; Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) among others.
