YABATECH unveils five-year strategic plan for improved technological advancement
The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has unveiled a five-year strategic plan for improved technological advancement of the institution.
The rector of the College, Obafemi Omokungbe said the blue print were adopted with the following focal points-academic enhancement and development, upgrading/refurbishment and maintenance of existing structures, physical and infrastructural development of Epe campus, staff and students welfare and improvement of internally generated revenue base.
Chairman, Governing Council, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), said the school’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship education is a direct consequence of its selection as the only innovation centre (I-hub) in Nigeria by UNESCO/UNEVOC.He commended the efforts of the rector for the projects that were commissioned recently, which he described as world-class digital centre and bakery.
Of the 8,411 graduands churned out at the school’s convocation ceremony, 148 students graduated with distinction in the Higher National Diploma programmes, 1,055 with upper credit, 1,781 with lower credit and 418 with pass grade.
The senior advocate advised the graduands to use the skills they have acquired gainfully for their benefit and that of the nation.
“As flag bearers of this great College, you must be positive change agents and responsible citizens wherever you find yourselves. Let hard work, character and integrity be your watchword, “ he advised.
Representative of the minister of education, Dr. Joel Samuel Ojo who is the director of tertiary education said the recent selection of the college, as an I-hub centre is a confirmation of its capability for innovations.He added that the government has expended a lot of resources through TETFUND intervention in tertiary institutions and would continue to invest more resources that are relevant to the speedy technological and socio-economic development of the nation.
He however encouraged the graduands to utilize the knowledge acquired from the institution in the service of humanity and urged them to be good ambassadors of their alma mater. “It is my expectation that as you go out to the world of work, you will contribute your quota to the development of the nation, “he encouraged.
