Students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, have called out the management of the school for their inability to resolve the unending power crisis in the institution.

The students, through their social media handles, expressed their grievances over lack of electricity on campus for several years, with management doing little or nothing to address it.

The students through the hash tags, “bringbackourlight” and “restorelightinourschool,” said their patience is running out as absence of power on campus is making life unbearable for them.

A student, identified as Emmanuel, said, “The last time I saw the light in school was in 2016 and before then, we had stayed in school for two years without power supply. Then later on December 2017, power was restored. In January 2018, there was an outage and since then till now, no electricity on campus. We are appealing to the management to urgently address this basic need.”

Another student said, “We have seen nothing but the sun and moonlight, over a year. The schools’ management has tossed and turned us with the ‘we will look into it,’ phrase, and we are fed up with their empty promises.

When asked if there would be a protest in that regard, a source said it is uncertain.
