Rotary donates wheelchairs to Immigration passports office
Rotary Club of Lagos District 9110 has donated wheelchairs to the Ikoyi Passport Office of the Nigeria Immigration Service, for the use of disabled passport applicants.
President of Rotary club of Lagos, Mr. Ayo Banjo, who presented the wheelchairs to the Passport Control Officer (PCO), Mrs. Modupe Anyalechi, noted that the donation was part of Rotary’s public service initiative.
According to him, “the donation is part of our public service initiative. The last time we were here, we saw an applicant being carried by hand. So, we decided to work towards donating these wheelchairs. This is for the good of the public.
“The total chair we procured from Canada is 20,000USD. We are grateful to the government of Nigeria because we got import duty waiver for the items.”
The PCO, Mrs. Anyalechi appreciated the gesture by the Rotary club and urged public spirited Nigerians to borrow a leaf from the organization.
