The General Manager of Afrimedical Manufacturing and Supplies Limited, Gaby Al Aridi, has said that local manufacturers have the capacity to meet Nigeria’s syringe demand and also serve the West African region.
He stated this at the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) 2025 Annual Conference & Exhibitions, where he emphasised the importance of connecting local producers with end users.
Aridi said, “Today is a special day for us as a medical manufacturer and supplier. We are the biggest syringe manufacturing company in Africa, producing 4.8 billion syringes annually. With the presidential executive order on the localisation of manufacturers, we have a company that can not only satisfy Nigeria’s needs but also support the West African market.”

He noted that while the impact of the executive order is yet to be fully felt, regulatory agencies like the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) are making efforts to clean up the market.
“We see NAFDAC working hard to remove unregistered and expired syringes, as well as counterfeit drugs, from circulation. We appreciate their efforts and the government’s commitment to enforcing the executive order,” he added.
