Plea for help as Yobe couple welcomes premature quadruplets

A couple in Yobe State is appealing for assistance to ensure the survival of their newborn quadruplets. Alhaji Ba’aba Habu and Hajiya Amina recently welcomed two boys and two girls at the General Hospital, Fika, about 154 kilometres south of Damaturu, the state capital.

The deliveries, though a source of joy for the Zirki Zanzana community, have been accompanied by anxiety as the babies were born prematurely. Hospital authorities in Fika have referred the family to the Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, for incubation and specialised care. However, the parents are struggling to raise funds to cover hospital bills and other medical expenses.

A midwife noted the difficulties of caring for premature babies in a community with limited medical facilities. Community leader, Malam Isa Muhammadu, has appealed to the Yobe State Government and philanthropists to assist the family.

He stressed that financial aid and the provision of basic needs would enable the parents to care for the infants, urging the state government to intervene in view of the prevailing economic challenges in the state.
