In the build up to the 2022 Lagos Digital Summit, computer scientist Adewale Adetona, better known as ISlimfit, has urged the Nigerian government to adopt more technology-focused academic syllabus; from elementary level to tertiary education.
The clarion call from Adewale Adetona, a UK Global Talent Visa recipient, is coming days to this year’s Lagos Digital Summit slated to hold on November 25th, at The Zone Tech Park, Gbagada, Lagos State.
Adetona, who not long ago bagged an MBA from Business School Netherlands, while speaking in a chat ahead of the annual event that brings together digital communication adopters, professionals and enthusiasts for the accelerated development of their businesses and the attainment of consistent value-add to various sectors and spheres of existence in Nigeria, said that the country has seriously lagged behind regarding how other nations have made it a critical policy to expose their citizens to technology from the formative years to adulthood through education.
The ICT development advocate has embarked on various personal programmes to deepen the use of technology as an economic driver and enhance learning for Nigeria’s agile population.
Adewale Adetona, a marketing and communications strategist, is highly exposed, versatile and knowledgeable in utilising technology as a catalyst for advancing learning, exposing and harnessing talents. More so, he is of the belief that more tech-focused education syllabus in the country would give students at various levels the opportunity to express their innate intelligence and creativity, such as it is in developed societies.
He has undertaken distribution of ICT equipment to empower Nigerian youths and created tangible and intangible capacity-building channels to boost the involvement of citizens in technology, in the bid to underline its importance to national and economic development.
One of such is the yearly Lagos Digital Summit, which is in its 6th year. The summit regularly brings together tech-enthusiats in Lagos and across the country. The LDS, through ISlimfit, who is the convener, has empowered more than 5,000 businesses and entrepreneurs since 2017, when it was inaugurated.
For the fasts approaching 2022 edition, Adetona, a computer science graduate from the Lagos State University (LASU) and co-founder of Menopays app, a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform, has collaborated with Mustardels Media, a Lagos-based frontline digital media outfit, and Expoze Nigeria, a leading digital media firm, for the free-to-attend summit themed ‘Scaling Businesses Leveraging Digital Technology’.
“I am excited and looking forward to hosting everyone at LDS again especially because of the zeal to see entrepreneurs, tech and media enthusiasts take advantage of digital tools to scale their businesses,” iSlimfit, the summit convoker stated.
“As our tradition, we have carefully selected the best speakers to sit on two different business-focused panel sessions on how entrepreneurs can take advantage of digital technology for their business development,” Ademola Adetona, Creative Director, Expoze Nigeria, also stressed.
