The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) has appointed Mr Olasupo Shasore (SAN) as the chairman of the Federal Government’s Legal Audit Committee for Agreements and MOUs on Accelerated Gas Development Projects (AGDPs) and other high-profile commercial arbitration matters.
The committee, which was recently inaugurated, is tasked with ensuring that Nigeria’s gas resources are managed securely and strategically. The Ministry of Justice in a statement said that a significant part of the Committee’s mandate includes reviewing concluded high-profile arbitration cases to identify the causes of Nigeria’s exposure in those cases, with a view to making recommendations for avoiding similar situations in the future.
This oversight, the ministry said, will help align AGDP agreements with the Nigerian Gas Master Plan, advancing domestic gas growth and safeguarding Nigeria’s interests in international contracts and disputes.
Aside from Shasore, the Committee comprises Mrs. Folashade Alli (SAN); Mr. Tolu Obamuroh; Muyiwa Balogun; ES NURPC and the senior officials of the NNPCL and the Federal Ministry of Justice.
“We congratulate Shasore and the entire team on this crucial assignment to strengthen and protect Nigeria’s commercial and legal standing in international fora,” it stated.
