BON pays tribute to veteran broadcaster Anike Agbaje Williams

Executive Secretary, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), Yemisi Bamgbose, has paid tributes to veteran broadcaster Anike Agbaje Williams, who died recently at 88.

Bamgbose, in a statement, noted that BON received the news of the death of a golden voice of broadcasting and the first face of television in the continent of Africa.

Describing her as the golden voice of the tube, he noted, Anike Agbaje Williams (nee Kuforiji), was a foremost media practitioner that pioneered programme presentation on radio and television.

As one of the pioneer staff of Western Nigeria Broadcasting Service (WNBS) and Western Nigeria Television (WNTV), he recalled Williams bequeathed solid foundations for broadcasting.

As a newscaster, continuity announcer, programmes presenter and producer of high repute, he added Williams spent all her life as a role model for the upcoming generation of broadcasters.

To him, Williams was a thorough-bred professional broadcaster, mentor and manager whose legacy in broadcasting will forever be cherished. Commiserating with the family members, Bamgbose also prayed for the repose of her soul.
