SGR defends N899 pump price as market-driven, seeks dialogue with IPMAN

SGR, leading fuel distribution company, has cited factors such as procurement costs, logistics, and operational sustainability of all its outlets nationwide as key elements influencing its current retail pump price of N899 per litre.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining quality service across its outlets nationwide.

This comes as an official response to concerns raised by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) over SGR pump price of N899 per litre.

In a statement released by the SGR Corporate Communications Team, the company emphasised its commitment to transparency, fair pricing, and consumer welfare, stressing that its pricing model is anchored on the realities of a deregulated downstream sector.

“Pricing in a deregulated downstream sector is shaped by multiple market forces. Our pricing model is competitively aligned with these realities and is not intended to destabilize the market or place pressure on fellow marketers,” the statement read.

SGR expressed openness to constructive engagement with IPMAN and other stakeholders, noting that collaboration remains essential to achieving a stable and efficient fuel supply system in the country.

The company reiterated that it remains focused on delivering service excellence and maintaining the trust of its customers in the long term.

This statement comes amid wider discussions around fuel pricing and distribution in Nigeria, where market deregulation has led to significant variations in pump prices across different marketers.
