The Comptroller General, Idris Isah, noted that the inflexible rules could fuel irregular migration.

He made the appeal at a meeting with UK delegation on Migration, Justice and Home Affairs Bilateral Talks and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, yesterday, in Abuja.

Isah pointed out that it “is important for the UK to relax the present stringent requirements for issuance of visa.

“I want to express our gratitude for your magnanimity in the provision of various classes of visa through which Nigerians can travel to UK.

“However, I will like to call on participants at this meeting to discuss issues such as visa fees and high rejection rate.”

“On our side, I want to inform that the revised Nigeria Visa Policy (NVP 2020) is robust enough to make Nigeria an attractive investment destination for British citizens and other nationals. One of the high points of the new visa policy is the introduction of visa on arrival regime, which is a business visa issued to high net worth investors upon their arrival in Nigeria,” he added.
