Easter: NSCDC deploys 3,500 personnel for security in FCT

THE Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has ordered the deployment of 3,500 personnel across the FCT to ensure security during the Easter celebrations.

The NSCDC said the deployment is aimed at protecting Critical National Assets and infrastructure (CNAI) and safeguard the lives and property of residents and visitors in the nation’s capital.

Addressing officers ahead of the operation, Dr. Odumosu emphasized the importance of security during the festive period, particularly in vulnerable locations such as churches, shopping malls, markets, and recreational centers.

He stated that all government buildings and areas housing Critical National Assets must be closely monitored to prevent vandalism, which often increases during holidays.

The deployment will involve various units, including the Special Protection Unit, Counter Terrorism Unit, and other specialized teams.

Odumosu reiterated the Corps’ responsibility to maintain peace and order, asserting that failures in these duties are unacceptable.

He announced that covert operations would begin immediately to surveil potential criminal hotspots.

Odumosu encouraged Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure a strong presence throughout their jurisdictions to prevent security breaches.

He urged officers to conduct themselves with integrity, adhere to rules of engagement, and cooperate with other security agencies.
Odumosu also called on FCT residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
