The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has stated that the contributions left in the annals of Oyo State history by the former Governor of the old Oyo State, late Chief Omololu Olunloyo, particularly in the areas of education, governance, and public service, will remain indelible.
According to the frontline Yoruba group, in a statement, to commiserate with Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of the state over the demise of Olunloyo, the vision commitment of the former governor for a better Oyo State was unparalleled.
In the statement signed by the National Leader of Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the death of the octogenarian was described as saddening.
He said: “Afenifere is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo, the former governor of Old Oyo State.
“As a brilliant scholar, mathematician, and engineer, Dr Olunloyo left an indelible mark on Oyo State’s history through his tireless contributions to education, governance, and public service.
“His vision for a better future, leadership, and commitment to the people of Oyo State will forever be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to you, the people of Oyo State, and all who knew him.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find solace in the enduring impact of his life and work.”
The former governor passed away in the early hours of Sunday, a few days before his 90th birthday.
