Security operatives have neutralised five suspected bandits and arrested three informants in separate operations in Katsina State.
A spokesperson for the police command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement.
Aliyu said the first operation occurred on April 10, in Dandume Local Government Area where the five suspected bandits were neutralized.
He added that the second operation occurred on the same date at the Danmusa council area where three suspected informants were apprehended.
According to him, the police command “in collaboration with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and the vigilante, have successfully carried out two operations, dealing a significant blow to armed banditry in the state.
“On April 10th, 2025, at about 0415 hrs, based on credible intelligence, the DPO Dandume Division led a team of joint operatives to a suspected bandit’s route at Dutsen Wori village, Dandume LGA, Katsina State. In a daring operation, the joint security team successfully ambushed a group of suspected armed bandits’ along the route.
“The ambush resulted in the neutralisation of five suspected armed bandits and the recovery of seven operational motorcycles (4 Hondas and 3 Boxers), which were being used by the bandits to carry out their nefarious activities.
“Similarly, on the same date at about 0700 hrs, based on information received from the Department of State Service (DSS) on suspected armed bandit activities at Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo villages, Danmusa LGA, the DPO Danmusa quickly mobilised and led a joint team of police operatives, Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes to the scene.
“A gun duel ensued which resulted in the dislodging of the bandit’s hideout. Three suspected informants to the bandits, who were providing information and logistical support to the bandits, were arrested, and two operational motorcycles and two bicycles were also recovered during the operation.”
Aliyu said the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the high level of professionalism, synergy and dedication to duty exhibited by the joint security team.
He quoted the police boss to have said, “These operations demonstrate the commitment of the command in collaboration with sister security agencies in the state to maintaining peace and security.”
He added that the the police chief “reiterated that the command under his stewardship remains vigilant and determined to tackle the menace of banditry, ensuring the safety and security of citizens of the state.”
