Former SGF, Saleh dies at 82

A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Finance Minister, Aminu Saleh, is dead.

He died at the age of 82 on “Wednesday morning after a protracted illness,” according to a family source.

Mr. Saleh, who served as the SGF under Gen. Sani Abacha’s military government, died at the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, in Katagum local council of Bauchi State. According to a family source, he was buried yesterday evening according to Islamic rites.

He was born in 1933 in Azare, Katagum, Bauchi State and had elementary education in Azare between 1941 and 1944. He attended Bauchi Middle School from 1944 to 1949; Clerical Training College, Zaria, 1950 and 51 and the Institute of Administration, Zaria, earning a diploma in accounting in 1957.
