Concludes rites leaves seclusion

OONI of Ife-elect, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, may be installed substantive monarch today after leaving Ilofi late yesterday.

Prince Ogunwusi had on October 30 commenced traditional rites in seclusion at Ilofi, a place meant for rituals and tutelage of a new Ooni and was to have concluded that important aspect pre-coronation exercise on November 19, signaling end of the 21-day event.

Sources, however, said yesterday that his stay in Ilofi was extended to ensure all the rites were completed before the coronation ceremony.

The Guardian learnt that the coronation would not be done in the open but inside Ile Oodua, the official palace of the Ooni as he makes his first entry into the palace today.

A source said: “In line with the demand of Ile Ife customs and traditions, his coronation will hold behind closed doors. Only the Isoros and Ife chiefs will be involved, but I can confirm it will be done inside the palace.”
