Last week, Burna Boy took to Twitter in a now-deleted post about how no one has paved way for him as an artiste and this generated different reactions from people on the platform; both fellow artistes and fans.

However, in a recent video interview, veteran Nigerian singer, Eedris Abdulkareem has accused the African Giant of stealing Fela’s songs and making them his own to become famous, he further said Burna Boy needs to apologise and take back his words because the Grammy-nominated singer’s songs are from Fela.

He went on to say that the “Anybody” crooner also stole from Afrobeats and advised that Burna Boy needs to pass across a message to people through his songs, a message different from Fela’s own.

In his words:

I think with due respect, Burna Boy needs to apologise at least Fela made it happen for you and you stole a lot from Fela’s songs to become who you are, you stole from Afrobeats to become who you are even though Fela’s songs are strictly about messages that add value to the lives of people, what is your song about.

Idris Abdulkareem performed with hip-hop band The Remedies from 1997 until they split in 2002. He continued as a solo artist and released the album P.A.S.S. (“Pains And Stress = Success”) in 2002. His most popular songs are “Mr Lecturer” and “Jagga Jagga”.

Burna Boy is yet to give a reply to this.
