Modeliste Magazine Tags Zendaya As Fashion’s New Icon In November Issue And Address Over Retouched Image Issues
Zendaya has been making waves since her Disney ‘Shake It Up’ days. This year, she has scored major feats like graduating from high school, being recognized by the LadyLike Foundation for her professional accomplishments and philanthropy and she also accepted a Woman Of Excellence Award at the luncheon.
Zendaya has put herself in a position where she has become a role model to many and that aspect has been enlightened on by Modeliste magazine. It came to light that the pictures of Zendaya to be used in the issue had been over retouched and has led to series of apologies and statements by the team to the fans as well as Zendaya herself.
This particular edition had a joint decision to release the un-edited and authentic images for the cover shoot in Puerto Vallarta, to take a stand to represent and advocate a message of positive body image, self love, and embracing all aspects of individuality, natural beauty and the empowerment of women. In regards to the uproar about the previously released images.
Modeliste Magazine’s Editor-In- Chief speaks up about the previous retouched images on their Instagram page;
“I would like to send a message to all of @zendaya beautiful, shining and loyal fans. We hear you and thank you for your outpouring support of the issue and this talented and inspiring young woman that we are all blesses to have as a role model and who will continue to inspire us through her artistic talents, intellect, creativity and honesty.
I am compelled to publicly addressed this situation which was brought to my attention yesterday, personally by Zendaya, prior to the issues’s anticipated premiere. Upon review of the final edited images which had been subtitled to us by an independent editing company, together as a collaborative between myself, Zendaya and her parents, we concluded that the images had been retouched to an extent that was not acceptable and not true to the values and ideals we represent and promote in our publication. I , therefore, made the executive decision to immediately pull the issue in order to have this rectified and have the images restored to the original, natural state which will reflect the true beauty and radiance of Zendaya. We look forward to sharing these shortly upon the issue’s re-release.”
