Organisers of the African Icon Awards have announced the opening of nominations for the 2025 edition, marking a decade of honouring trailblazers across the continent. The landmark 10th anniversary event is set to take place on 26 July 2025 at Colonnade Hall, Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
The annual awards, which celebrate excellence and leadership across diverse sectors in Africa, will feature a grand dinner and several side attractions, according to the Director of Projects, Ambassador Abraham Lawal.
Lawal noted that the 2025 ceremony would not only reflect on the past decade of impact but also spotlight emerging icons whose work is transforming communities and industries across Africa. He added that nominations would remain open until 10 May 2025.
Spanning more than two dozen categories, this year’s awards seek to recognise achievements in entrepreneurship, leadership, humanitarian service, entertainment, innovation, health, education, philanthropy, and youth development.
Among the categories are Youth Icon of the Year, CEO of the Year, Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year, Healthcare Hero of the Year, Most Creative Woman of the Year, and NGO of the Year. Others include Technology Pioneer of the Year (Emerging), Entertainment Humanitarian of the Year, Real Estate Personality of the Year, and African Fast-Growing Entrepreneur of the Year.
“This 10th edition is not just a celebration—it is a call to spotlight Africans making a difference in their respective fields,” Lawal said. “We invite the public to nominate deserving individuals and organisations who exemplify excellence and positive change.”
