Omojafor, Adisa, Omoraro shine at 2024 Marketing Edge Award
In what can only be considered a night to remember in the Nigerian advertising scene, September 28 2024 was marked by a celebration of excellence and recognition for several industry giants who are reshaping the landscape and leaving their footprints in the sands of time.
Amidst the star power, lights, and glamour of the night, the 2024 Marketing Edge Awards acknowledged, recognised, and awarded three personalities – Steve Omojafor, Lanre Adisa, and George Omoraro – who stood out for the undeniable impact they have had and continue to have on the industry.
STEVE OMOJAFOR: Chairman of STB McCann, a Founding Father of Advertising in Nigeria
With decades of experience under his belt, Steve Omojafor, Chairman of STB McCann, is often referred to as one of the ‘fathers’ of advertising in Nigeria. He has undeniably played a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the advertising landscape into what it is today.
Steve’s deep knowledge of the craft, paired with his forward-thinking vision, has made him a respected mentor and leader. Reacting to the success of the 2024 edition of the Marketing Edge Awards, Omojafor praised the organisers for their ongoing commitment to promoting industry excellence.
“I cannot recall any individual institution or magazine that has endured for 21 years and inspired such a prestigious award,” he remarked, in recognition of the platform’s significance in nurturing creativity within Nigeria’s advertising space.
GEORGE OMORARO: CEO of RAGE Media Group, and Ex-Officio at AAAN
As founder and leader of one of Nigeria’s most vibrant creative media agencies, George Omoraro has remained at the forefront of the advertising business in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, a region once considered less fruitful for advertising professionals.
George’s work in the FCT has undoubtedly laid the groundwork for a more dynamic and accessible advertising space, which has paved the way for others (established and emerging agencies) to gain seamless entry into the region.
Not only is Rage Media now servicing clients across the globe, but their creative divergence further resounds throughout the industry and in some cases, serves as an excellent template for others to follow.
Perhaps most notable is the CEO’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent. By mentoring and empowering the next generation of creative minds, he has become a beacon of inspiration that helps to elevate the industry as a whole.
Upon clinching the award for ‘Outstanding Creative Advertising Personality of the Year’, Omoraro shared, “This award reflects the hard work and creativity thriving in our community.” Visibly moved by the recognition, he reiterated his dedication to fostering creativity and collaboration, ensuring that Nigeria’s marketing industry continues to thrive.
LANRE ADISA: Founder/Chief Creative Officer of Noah’s Ark Communications, President of the AAAN
As President of the Advertising Agencies Association of Nigeria (AAAN), Lanre Adisa has played a pivotal role in strengthening the industry’s reputation. His leadership has brought unity, innovation, and growth, as he advocates for high standards in creativity and ethics, as well as for the need to foster collaboration among agencies.
Over the years, Lanre has been on the front line for pushing creative boundaries in the sector, and his passion for innovative advertising has earned him respect as one of the most influential figures in the industry.
Lanre’s recognition, through the Lifetime Achievement Award in Creative Advertising at this year’s Marketing Edge Awards, is a testament to his outstanding contribution to the creative sector and his role in shaping the future of the industry.
All things considered, the Marketing Edge Awards provided a well-deserved commendation to three incredible individuals whose work has not only shaped the past, but is also paving way for the future of advertising in Nigeria. As the Award Committee aptly noted, “These honourees exemplify the spirit of innovation and dedication that is driving the advertising industry forward.”
