
Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World continues its record-breaking streak in Nigerian cinemas, amassing ₦226.8 million in two weeks.
According to the latest figures from the Nigeria Box Office for the weekend of February 21st to 23rd, the blockbuster remains the biggest film in the country, raking in ₦57.2 million over the weekend.
This shows its position as 2025’s highest-grossing Hollywood release of the year in Nigeria as of the time of filing this report.

The official distributor of the film, FilmOne Entertainment, had previously announced its historic ₦137.5 million opening weekend, and the momentum has not slowed down.
Nigerian moviegoers have shown support for the latest Marvel instalment, which follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he officially assumes the role of Captain America while navigating political conspiracies and emerging threats.
Reel Love closes in, while ELJ remains the all-time king
While Captain America: Brave New World leads the box office, Nigerian romantic drama Reel Love is proving to be a strong competitor. The film earned ₦44.4 million over the weekend, bringing its cumulative total to ₦167.8 million in its second week.
Meanwhile, ELJ (presumably A Tribe Called Judah) remains Nigeria’s undisputed all-time highest-grossing film, now sitting at ₦1.879 billion after 11 weeks in cinemas. The Funke Akindele-directed film continues to make history as the first Nollywood film to cross the billion-naira mark.
Other top performers
Summer Rain secured ₦6.5 million over the weekend, bringing its total to ₦52.2 million in its third week.
Mufasa: The Lion King added ₦5.9 million to its earnings, with a cumulative total of ₦604.4 million in its tenth week.
Indian historical action film Chhaava wrapped up the top six, earning ₦5 million for a total of ₦15.4 million in its second week.
