Many celebrities are giving back to the society that made them the brands they have become. Popular Ghanaian actress, Ella Mensah, who is among the few actresses that have successfully transverse the two most popular African film industries (Nollywood and Ghollywood), is not left behind in charity, as she plans to build a home for older people, who have no family and those whose families have abandoned them.

The motivating factor for Mensah is simply her love for older people. Mensah, who shot to lime light in 2010 with the movie Bed of Roses in Ghana, made her first appearance in Nollywood in 2013 in the movie titled Treat Her Like a Lady. She followed it with many other movies, and has since made Nigeria her second home as the jobs continue to pour in.

While speaking on her defining moment as an actor, Mensah said, “My defining moment as an actor was when a fan in the United States, (New York) precisely, just walked up to me to take a selfie. That was when I realized I’m blessed and that I am equally on the right track in my chosen profession as an actor.”

Fame, however, comes with a price and Mensah has got her fair share. According to her, “Fame is very expensive and if you are not very careful, it will rob you of your freedom. Some things I use to do openly, I cannot do them in peace now.”

Describing who she has become, the award-winning actor said, “The new Ella Mensah is the girl who is now grown and has become a women, very ambitious and hard working. She is more mature now and finally knows what she wants, and is going for it. She is more informed and has learnt from her mistakes.”

She said she has re-invents herself as an actor by setting her priorities right, choosing the right scripts, working with the right people and above all, getting her body and health in shape.‎ Mensah believes she has some sterling qualities that stand her out as an actor, as she describes herself as “the lady with beauty and brains.”

She, however, did not forget to acknowledge God as the persona that has seen her through it all.
