Nollywood actress, Omowunmi Dada, has revealed that she underwent surgery after enduring a prolonged leg condition she kept hidden while actively working on set.
The actress made the revelation on Tuesday in an Instagram post, where she spoke about silently bearing pain for months before finally deciding to go under the knife.
According to her, she continued to appear at movie locations, walk through pain, and smile for the cameras despite battling a serious health challenge.
She wrote: “Sometimes, we carry our pain so quietly that the world celebrates us without realising the weight we bear behind the scenes. I had been dealing with leg pain for so long, yet I continued to show up, walk through sets, and smile through moments—but deep down, I was weathering a storm.”
Omowunmi added that the pain eventually affected her basic mobility, forcing her to take a break and seek medical intervention.
She said, “Eventually, I had to make a difficult choice: I underwent surgery. The thought of losing control over the simple things we often take for granted—walking, using the bathroom, moving freely—was humbling.”
The actress, who is currently recovering, said the process has been humbling but also deeply spiritual. She thanked her doctors, friends, and family for their support.
She added, “But God… He held me. I’m still healing, but my healing is beautiful.”
Omowunmi ended her post by advising fans to show empathy, reminding them that social media doesn’t always reflect the full reality of people’s lives.
“Let’s learn to extend grace. Not everything you see online reveals the whole story. Be kind. Be gentle. Life unfolds behind the scenes.”
