Nollywood actress Roseline  Meurer has opened up about her marriage to businessman Olakunle Churchill, explaining why she was drawn to him and addressing speculation about her relationship with his ex-wife, Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh.

Speaking on a live session with daddy freeze, Meurer said that her attraction to Churchill was never about his looks. “His character and personality is what I got drawn to, not him,” she said. She explained that when they first got close, she was focused on building her career and spending time with him was simply part of enjoying life.

“Maybe he liked me. Am I not fine? But he never told me he liked me. It was merely me trying to do my career thing. I was using him to do enjoyment,” Meurer added, emphasising that her early relationship with Churchill was not romantic.

The actress also addressed a previous question about why Churchill, whom she had described as “not her type” in earlier interviews, became her partner. She said her focus was always on his personality rather than his appearance.

“His physical look then wasn’t like now. He is now an Odogwu. That time, his stomach was flat. It’s not like he wasn’t fine or handsome, but he was not just somebody I would look at and say ‘oh, this is who I want to marry’. I was looking to marry my age mate then,” she said.

Speaking on the age difference between herself and Dikeh, Churchill’s former wife. She said she mentioned the age gap in past interviews only as a rough estimate and insisted she never meant to criticise anyone.

“When I said Tonto was like seven to eight years older than me, I was not trying to age-shame anyone. Growing old is grace. It is something you should wish for. Everyone wishes to grow old,” she said.

The actress has previously defended herself against rumours about her marriage. In recent weeks, she denied claims that she unfollowed Churchill on Instagram after he was seen spending time with Dikeh and their son, King Andre.

Meurer also addressed long-standing speculation that she was once friends with Dikeh before marrying Churchill. She insisted she has never met Dikeh, never had her contact details, and was never introduced to Churchill by her. “I was never my husband’s ex’s friend, not to talk of best friend,” she said.

Roseline Meurer (Rosaline Ufuoma Meurer) is a Gambian-born Nigerian actress and producer. She is 34 years old and is married to Nigerian businessman Olakunle Churchill. The couple has two children together.
