Afrobeats singer Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has raised the alarm over the reported destruction of farmlands by herdsmen in his home state of Bayelsa.
He called on the government to take urgent action, describing the situation as heartbreaking.
The Dem Mama crooner also spoke against open grazing, urging herders to adopt ranching instead.
Taking to his X handle on Tuesday, he wrote, “Pls the government should do something. They are destroying farms in Bayelsa. Aboki, take your cow inside and feed them. This is so sad.”

Over the years, several states, including Benue, Ondo, and Ekiti, have banned open grazing to protect farmlands, but enforcement remains a major challenge.
Bayelsa, known for its rich agricultural resources, now appears to be facing similar threats, sparking concerns from residents like Timaya.
The issue of herders invading farms has been a long-standing problem across the country, leading to violent clashes, economic losses, and growing food insecurity.
This is not the first time Timaya has spoken out on national issues. During the #EndSARS protests in 2020, he joined other celebrities in calling for an end to police brutality.
