A group of Nigerian hackers NaijaSecForce, founded by Rotimi Akinyele, Oluwaseun Oyelude, Chidi Obum, Debra Okwuzi, Nurudeen Odeshina and Eyitemi Egbejule have emerged eight in the nomination rounds of the Global Cyberlympics, the world’s hacking Olympics.

The 12-hour competition had over 134 teams across the world and saw the Naijacybersec team become the only African team in the top ten category.

Australia has the highest wins with 6 teams while Europe has two wins including first place.

The team also clinched the African regional winners’ title after beating 24 teams that competed in Africa.

NaijaSecForce group kicked off in 2016. Today, it has grown and boasts of “over 150 active information and cybersecurity professionals and enthusiasts from all genres in Nigeria and in the diaspora, working in all spheres of life”.

They are also the founders of NaijaSecCon – the annual technical cybersecurity conference, the Capture-The-Flag (CTF) competition for students of Nigerian tertiary institutions and the monthly #NSCLagos meet-up – a monthly meet-up for cybersecurity learning, education and awareness.

As they move onto the finals, we wish them good luck!
